Tea Tree, Manuka and Eucalyptus all have great antibacterial properties.
Cypress, Cedarwood and Juniperberry are often used for oily skin due to their astringent properties.
Many people with oily skin believe that not moisturising will help their greasy skin. This isn’t the case! Moisturising daily with the right ingredients can help to regulate and balance the production of sebum which in turn helps the skin to protect itself from the bacteria that cause breakouts and acne.
Moisturising will also help to protect your skin from external factors such as the harsh winter weather or air-conditioning etc.
Amphora’s Base Cream is a great place to start. It’s made with nourishing Beeswax and Sweet Almond to help protect and hydrate the skin.
When creating your moisturiser blend for the first time I always recommend starting with a 1% dilution rate. You may find that you need to increase the dilution rate after a few uses but it’s best to start off low and then gradually increase to 3% if you’re finding that the lower blend is not effective enough.
The recipe below is a blend of oils that all have great antibacterial and astringent properties. If you are not keen on the oils I've used then you can also try replacing them with oils that you like and that work for your skin to get the most out of your moisturiser.
You can find which oils might be suitable for your skin by reading the essential oil profiles elsewhere on this site or by going through the other blogs from the experts here at Amphora Aromatics.
Moisturiser for oily skin:
100ml Amphora Cream Base
7 Drops of Manuka Essential Oil
4 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
5 Drops of Juniperberry Essential
Decant the cream into a dark glass jar or bottle and carefully add your chosen essential oils and stir well. Once you have cleansed and toned your skin, apply the moisturiser over the entire face. Concentrate on any areas that may be a little dryer. Use morning and night for best results.
